DigniTea 2019 Event Recap
DigniTea 2019 was Tea-riffic!
On Sunday, September 14th 2019 we held our second annual DigniTea event at the beautiful and scenic Oakview Terrace in support of raising funds for our HOPE program, which is a program that helps young female trafficking survivors overcome their past in a trauma-informed way.
A Sold out Event!
It was a SOLD OUT event with 120 attendees who purchased their tickets for afternoon tea fare, shopping at our wonderful vendors, and hearing from impactful speakers.
Our guest speakers that afternoon were a mother and daughter who shared firsthand stories of their own trafficking experience, from two different points of view. The young daughter was lured into the trap of human trafficking from her “boyfriend” who showered her with gifts and love until the moment he asked her to pay it back abruptly and unexpectedly. Blinded by the relationship before eventually letting go, she is now in a much healthier and supportive position in life and dedicates her time to assisting girls suffering in similar situations.
It was equally as moving to hear from our very own Bonnie Harkness, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Programs Development at 360°kids, who shared about her work and the HOPE program.
Despite the rainy weather that started the off the afternoon, it didn’t dampen the sunny spirits of our guests who donned their hats and fascinators, shopped with our sponsors and said they had such a great time, adding, “How are you going to top it next year?”
Our DigniTEA Event was such a huge success in huge part to our volunteers, sponsors, silent auction contributors and members of the public. Thank you so much to everyone to came to support their community and spend time with us. All the proceeds raised from this event go directly to supporting 360°kids’ HOPE program that provides housing and support to young victims of human trafficking here in York Region.
“The second annual Digni Tea event was a great success. All guests enjoyed an afternoon of get-together over High Tea, photoshoot, fashion, and shopping. Even better, all the funds raised will go towards the Hope Program in support of victims of human trafficking! I’m honoured to have been part of this amazing initiative along with all the amazing staff, volunteers and sponsors who made it possible.” – Mahta G., Miss Teen Globe America 2019
