Board/Committee Members
360°kids is seeking committed volunteers for our Board of Directors and Standing Committees to join our passionate, friendly and dynamic team. Our skills-based Board reflects our diverse community. We are committed to equity and encourage applicants from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives and experiences.
Our current requirements include those interested in Governance, Finance, Information Technology, People & Culture and Government & Stakeholders Relations initiatives.
As a Board/Committee member, your participation will be valuable in one of these areas:
- Participate in strategic Governance items such as setting policies to align with organization’s best practices and manage risks
- Support the leadership team with strategic people and culture matters such as talent retention and development, and rewards and recognition
- Identify government relations opportunities and understand public policies impacting 360°kids
- Support fundraising efforts and help strengthen organization’s financial and technology processes
At 360°kids, our Mission is to prevent homelessness and help youth in crisis overcome issues and transition to a state of safety and stability. Our vision is that in York Region, every young person has access to a safe home. We offer a range of programs to ensure that no young person becomes homeless and, if they do, we provide a variety of housing options and wrap-around services to help them transition to independence.
As a Board or Committee member, you will:
- Attend regular meetings and other planning sessions or events (6-8 per year).
- Prepare for meetings including reviewing minutes and related materials and reports in advance of each meeting.
- Actively participate in board/committee work and volunteer for assignments.
- Build collegial working relationships that contribute to the mission and values.
- Provide strategic input for Board discussion and annual planning.
- Participate in events on behalf of the organization.
We are looking for committed, supportive members who possess the following abilities:
- A drive to make a difference in the lives of young people
- Ability to leverage networks and resources to support fundraising initiatives
- Past board experience helpful
- Demonstrate a commitment to equity
- Previous experience in Governance, Financial management, Information Technology, People & Culture, or Policy development and external relations are beneficial.
- Desire to be an active member in building a strong community in York Region.
- Business acumen, public speaking and presentations beneficial.
